Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was a French writer, pilot, poet and author. He grew up in an aristocratic family and fell in love with aviation from an early age after flying for the first time at the age of 12. He acquired pilot wings during his compulsory military service in 1922, at the same time he began to write. His adventures as a pilot inspired all of his literary creations, culminating in the classic 1943 book The Little Prince. During the war, he was assigned to the Air Force and joined the United States after the armistice. Beginning in the spring of 1944, he carried out surveying missions for the landing in Provence. He died near Marseille on July 31, 1944, and his plane was not discovered until the early 2000s.
