Uri Geller
If you're even remotely familiar with the world of paranormal investigation, you've probably heard the name Uri Geller. Geller made a name for himself as a psychic in the 1970s and '80s, performing on TV shows like The Tonight Show, The Merv Griffin Show, and The Mike Douglas Show. Geller claimed that he could bend spoons with his mind and even performed impromptu "psychic surgery" on several people. While many of his fellow psychics believed he was faking his abilities and was just a showman, Geller's public profile took a hit in the 1990s when many people claimed he was nothing more than a fraud. In early 2001, Geller was found unconscious by the side of a road in Brazil. Geller claimed he was attacked by a group of people, but nobody was ever caught. His family believes he was drugged and that whoever did it was trying to silence him. Geller has since stopped performing publicly, and his family has even stopped the investigation into what happened to him.
