Born in Nebraska in 1941, Weldon Kees is known for his mysterious disappearance and his artistic career. He was a talented painter, poet and jazz musician who influenced many later American writers and is considered one of the major literary influences of the 20th century. In July 1955, his car was found next to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. The mystery of his disappearance has never been solved, but it is presumed he committed suicide at the age of 41.
