D.B. Cooper
It's also possible that the most famous person to disappear in American history never existed. The media used D.B. Cooper to refer to the unidentified male hijacker. He held a Boeing 727 in the United States on November 24, 1971, and demanded a ransom of $200,000. He used a parachute to jump from the plane after getting the ransom. The name he boarded was Dan Cooper, so his name became D.B. Cooper. Despite more than 40 years of investigation and thousands of theories, no one has been able to locate D.B. Cooper or determine his real name.
