What I Learned from My Mom, a Skilled Home Organizer by Profession

Growing up, I consider myself fortunate to have had a mom who was a professional organizer. Seeing her work with clients to declutter and improve their living spaces has had a huge impact on me. It taught me how to be organized in all areas of my life, not just around the house.
I always made sure to keep my school work and toys tidy, and as an adult, I still find those skills to be incredibly valuable, especially as a writer. That's why, here at Home Addict, I'm excited to share with you some of the top tips I learned from my mom on how to keep your life organized.
Clean Your Closet Every Single Season
It may seem like a lot, but it's a good idea to clean out your closet every season, or roughly every 3 months. When a new season rolls around, take out all of your clothes and assess what you have for the upcoming months. Sort your clothes into three piles: "keep", "donate", and "throw away". Once you're finished sorting, put everything back in its place. You'll be amazed at how much space you've just freed up and how much easier it is to find what you're looking for.
If you make a habit of cleaning out your closet regularly, you'll start to realize which items you're holding onto but never wearing. Plus, it'll give you some space to add new clothes to your wardrobe when the new season rolls around. My mom is a perfect example of this. She always looks fashionable and up-to-date because she's constantly tidying up her closet. And before donating anything, she'd always let her friends have first dibs on her clothes, which was always a blast.
