As firms come up with more advanced formulations and people's tastes shift, the beauty industry follows right along. In reality, some of these items look nothing like they did when they were first put on the market! So how have these beauty products evolved and what can we learn from those transformations?
From Rouge to Blush
In the early twentieth century, having a porcelain complexion and rosy cheeks was viewed as the ultimate representation of beauty. Women would apply rouge, now known as blush, in order to obtain the desired flushed appearance.
This product was formerly used in abundance, but nowadays it is only lightly applied to the cheeks and comes in both liquid and powder form. The “overly blushing” look has been out of fashion since the 1980s, however, so it appears to be trending once again.
